How many times do we think if we ignore it, it’ll go away? Or if we don’t talk about it, it won’t happen to me? Not that we say those things out loud, but I know for sure I think that way from time to time. This is exactly what Katie Holmes and Kohl’s want women to stop doing when it comes to the topic of Breast Cancer. They say it’s the “Pink Elephant” in the room and it needs to be addressed.

“Breast cancer is like a pink elephant in the room that women don’t really want to think about, but know they should,” said Katie Holmes. “Women have so much going on in their day-to-day lives, it can be easy to ignore their own needs, like scheduling a mammogram or routine screening. I’m honored to team up with Kohl’s to remind women of the importance of having a conversation about breast health right now.”

Katie was out and about in New York promoting the Kohl’s Pink Elephant Campaign and rocking the Kohl’s Pink Elephant Necklace. (Pictured above.) 100% of the proceeds from the sales of the necklace will go toward the fight against breast cancer through Kohl’s Cares. The Pink Elephant necklace is available in 2 sizes and priced at only $5 and $8 each.

“Kohl’s is thrilled to partner with Katie Holmes to get women talking about breast cancer and to offer customers the opportunity to support the fight against breast cancer by redeeming our first-ever, pink Kohl’s Cash,” said Michelle Gass, Kohl’s chief customer officer. “Kohl’s is committed to women’s health and we are excited to partner with Susan G. Komen on a national level as we work together to confront the pink elephant in the room and encourage breast cancer awareness through conversation.”

Kohl’s has a fantastic resource on their website about getting the conversation on Breast Cancer started. From Breast Cancer warning signs and statistics to wake us all up, to the hard facts and ways you can join in the conversation on social media.
