Welcome to Day 20 of 31 Days of Fashion – Tips, Tricks & Outfit Ideas

I could not resist using that headline. I just couldn’t. No, this isn’t a fitness post. It’s about another kind of booty….the fashion boot kind of booty.

Tall boots can lose their shape if not properly stored and cared for. Here's my not so secret tool I use to hep keep their shape and stored well all year long.

I spend good money on my tall boots and I want them to last for years to come. One important way to make sure you’re taking care of them, storing them right and helping them keep their shape is by sticking something in the boot shaft. If you don’t, the shaft will flop over if it’s a lightweight tall boot, not stand up in your closet, lose its shape over time and will even get cracks in the leather.

I have quite a few tall boots and years ago used to stick rolled up magazines in them to help keep their shape. It worked great sometimes, but the magazines were too heavy for a few pairs of my boots and they would still end up toppling over. A few years ago I was introduced to inflatable boot inserts and have never put another magazine in a pair of boots since.

I use this brand, which is based out of Australia, but it looks like you can have them shipped to the U.S. They’re called BootyShapers.

I also found a few similar products on Amazon here and here, but I can not vouch for their quality. Fair warning, if you type in “booty shaper” in Amazon – you will be taken to an entirely different product. 😉

So there you have it, my “secret” to a shapely booty. Do you have any tips or tricks when it comes to making sure you take care of your fall and winter boots?
