Hi friends! I’m back as part of the Burlington Style Squad™ to share more trends and fashion with you. Today, it’s all about that important winter apparel – the coat.
When it’s cold outside, my entire family of five has several choices when it comes to the coat we decide to wear. We have different weights, styles and colors to choose from. Unfortunately, that’s not the case for everyone, which when I think about how many coats we have in our closet, blows my mind. I don’t have the worries of how I’ll stay warm during the winter, but with more than 47 million Americans living in poverty and temperatures dipping below freezing, the need for warmth is great. So is the need for a coat and thankfully, there’s something we can do about that!
Burlington is excited to announce their 9th Annual Warm Coats and Warm Hearts Coat Drive in partnership with ABC’s Good Morning America and the national non-profit organization, K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers. Donating is easy and the importance of helping to keep others warm this winter is big. All you have to do is go through your coats, choose one or more you don’t wear any longer and donate it at any Burlington store location. As a thank you from Burlington, you can receive 10% off your purchase, valid now through January 18, 2016.
ABC’s Good Morning America helps out by broadcasting the event and K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers helps match each store with a local agency, who will pick up the coats and donate them to those in need. Let’s make this the biggest donation year yet, and blow away both Burlington and our communities with generosity!
Speaking of GMA, you have a chance to be featured on their show! When you donate a coat and take a photo, upload it to Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #GiveACoat to be featured. I donated a coat just a few days ago.
2015 Coat Trends
I browsed around for a while at my local Burlington to see what coat trends I could spot. This season, you’ll see a lot of faux fur on the hoods, wool, system coats, quilting and Canadian Goose inspired downs. Here are a few of my favorites I spotted.
My favorites right now are anything with faux fur and/or wool. In the past, I’ve been drawn to leather, but the heaviness of a real leather jacket got to be a little much for me. I like how wool keeps you warm, is stylish and a little lighter for me to wear.
Can you think of any coats hanging in your closets right now that haven’t been worn in years? Lighten your load and brighten (not to mention warm up) someone’s day by donating them at your local Burlington store.
