I was recently invited to the Luxe Laser and Wellness Spa in Cedar Park – one of the many suburbs of the great city of Austin, Texas for a laser treatment. The spa recently opened in June and I was excited to visit and hear about the services they offered.
Laser treatment has always intrigued me, but I’m very cautious when it comes to what I put on my skin and how I treat it. At least now that I’m in my 40s I am! I was very careless from my teenage years to mid 20s, really not caring or worrying about the affects of the sun or how not taking care of my skin could make an impact on an older me. And of course with age comes fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and for me, major dryness – all causing my skin to look dull and lifeless at times.
After walking in and being greeted with a smile from Ashley, the spa director, I filled out some paper work and then met with their medical director, Dr. Larissa O’Neill. We discussed my concerns, what I was looking for in a service and also looking over my chart for anything hereditary I might want to go over.
After talking, we decided the first thing I wanted to take care of was the redness on my cheek area. For years I thought I had acne and was treating it as such, only to then be told it was actually rosacea (which is proof it’s a good idea to see a professional about any skin issues). Because of this, I have small red capillaries on my cheeks that cause redness and an uneven skin tone. It’s just something that bothers me so I never leave home without makeup on, because if I can cover it all, I will!
After chatting with the doctor, I spent time with Tina, their lead laser and injector specialist. She took such good care of me, taking the time needed to go over everything, and we decided a Genesis laser treatment would be perfect for my concerns. If you’ve never heard of a Genesis treatment, well then you’re in good company because neither had I.
Basically it heats up the skin stimulating collagen regrowth and is good for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, redness caused by rosacea, as well as acne.
The treatment was incredibly relaxing, giving me a chance to just lay there and do nothing but breathe. She compared the treatment to what it feels like to lay down and soak up the sun’s rays, minus the skin damage of course. 😉 She also told me to let her know if it ever got too hot to where I was uncomfortable. It did heat up quite a bit, but was never painful or even uncomfortable.
So what did I think after one treatment? Let’s just say when I came home my husband said “you’re glowing!” I definitely noticed a difference in the appearance of my skin after just one treatment. I had less redness and an overall better looking skin tone. I plan on going in for two more treatments and expect I’ll see some amazing results.

After I’m done with my Genesis treatment plan, I want to have the capillaries on my legs taken care of. I have quite a few on the insides of my legs, as well as on the thigh area. It would be amazing to have that taken care of before next summer. It’ll help me feel more confident in shorts and dresses, and maybe even a bathing suit. 😉
