Spreading Faith & Love with Positive Messages In My Home + Gift Giving

Almost a year ago, we had a film crew in our home for a project. We were together for about 8 hours and got to know each other quite well that day. As they were leaving, one of them said they loved how many positive messages I had spread throughout our home and how it made it feel like a really happy place to be. That made my day because that’s exactly the message I try to spread. From verses and phrases to images from our travels, I like to fill our home with items that express my faith, my personality and my dreams.

When I heard that Walmart was now carrying the DaySpring Christian Celebrations collection, I knew I needed to check it out and not only purchase some items for my home, but for gifts as well. My daughter was also wanting some items for her dorm, so we headed over to our local Walmart and did some shopping.

The collection is located in the cards and stationery section and is easy to spot. They had a little bit of everything from wall hangings, journals and cards to mugs, stationery and more.

Decorating My Desk Space

I spend a lot of time at my desk and it’s also located in a high traffic area of our home. So when I saw the desk calendar, journals and notepads, I knew exactly what I wanted to get.

I am in love with this journal, which says “Hug Harder. Laugh Louder. Smile Bigger. Love Longer.” It’s a nice reminder as I’m working to focus on what’s truly important. Our world can always use more hugs, laughs, smiles and love.

I also purchased a notepad that I plan on using for my daily reminders and to-do’s that I don’t want to clog up my planner with. The message on the notepad spoke to me and as I read it standing there in Walmart, it gave me a nice little slap across the face. (In a good way.) It reminds me that I AM stronger than I know and features one of my favorite verses – Philippians 4:13.

As women we seem to short change ourselves constantly, whether it’s in our business environment, with family and friends or just personally. We ARE stronger than we give ourselves credit for. And smarter and more beautiful and more talented…I could go on forever, but I’ll stop right here. 🙂

I think my favorite purchase from the DaySpring Christian Celebrations collection is the Inspirational DayBrightener. I have the Style & Grace one, which gives me 366 reasons God’s love looks good on (and in) you.

How beautiful are those words? I just love it.

Now my desk is a daily reminder of who I am, whose I am and what’s important. I’m surrounded by positive messages and pictures of my family and our travels. I already loved sitting at my desk pounding away and creating, and now I love it even more.

Gift Giving

Have you ever taken the Love Language quiz? I took it for the first time many, many years ago and the results were that my love language is gift giving. (Which I could have told you before even taking the quiz.) Fast forward 20 years or so and it’s still my love language.

Giving gifts is how I show my love and receiving gifts makes me feel loved. It’s just how I’m wired. Needless to say, gift giving is important to me and I like to search for gifts with meaning, as well as ones that are just fun.
